How to Get Stickers and Residue Off Clothes & Fabric

Whether it’s a stubborn size sticker on a new pair of jeans or a kid’s birthday sticker that won’t come off cleanly from a shirt, sometimes sticky things don’t mix well with clothes. If you find yourself in a sticky situation, read on for tips on removing that pesky residue.

What you need

Steps to remove sticker residue from clothing

  1. 1

    Mix 1 capful of Clorox 2® for Colors Stain Remover and Laundry Additive in 1 quart of water

  2. 2

    Soak garment for up to 1 hour

    This should dissolve the adhesive that is holding the sticker.

    Apply alcohol-based hand sanitizer, if needed

    If the sticker is only partially removed, then you may need to apply a little alcohol-based hand sanitizer to any remaining sticker residue to loosen it.

    Machine wash

    Machine wash the garment with detergent and more Clorox 2® for Colors Stain Remover and Laundry Additive. 

  5. 5

    Air dry

Repeat if needed for complete success.
