How to get Mustard Out of Clothes

Get mustard on your new white shirt? Follow these mustard stain removal tips on how to remove mustard stains from clothes, fabrics, and surfaces.

Laundry

Blot
Don’t get tardy. Quickly blot away the excess and rinse in cool water from the back.

Rub
Rub any residual stain gently with liquid laundry detergent that includes enzymes prior to laundering.

Wash
Wash immediately in the hottest water recommended using detergent and either ⅓ cup Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach for bleach-safe whites or Clorox 2® For Colors Stain Remover and Laundry Additive for colors or white items with spandex.

Dry
Inspect the item. If any stain remains, repeat the steps above prior to tumble drying the item.
Tip

Wash quickly as the turmeric in mustard is a yellow dye that could become permanent.

Remove excess mustard.

Wipe
Wipe surface clean with Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes. For stuck-on stains try Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with Micro-Scrubbers.

Rinse
Rinse with water. You mustard being more careful!
