How to Keep Flowers Fresh
Read this tip for cut flowers
Did you know? Adding Clorox® Regular Bleach2 to flower vase water keeps flowers healthy and last longer!
When microorganisms multiply in plain vase water, they block the flower stem and make it hard for the stem to absorb water for nutrients — causing wilt and odors! Adding Clorox® Regular Bleach2 kills these microorganisms to ensure that your flower bloom lasts.
With a couple cents worth of Clorox® Regular Bleach2, flowers can last longer and water doesn’t get funky as fast. Here’s how:
MixUsing gloves, add ¼ teaspoon of Clorox® Regular Bleach2 to every 1 quart of water you use in the flower vase and stir to mix.
CutUnwrap the bouquet and cut a little off the bottom of each flower stem to increase absorbency. When cutting the stems, make sure to also consider cutting them to size for your flower vase.
Refresh Weekly As NeededEnsure the water stays clear and free of that nasty smell that starts to brew about a week after the flowers bloom. Check the flowers weekly, and mix up a fresh batch of water solution as needed.
