  • Q.
Why does Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes list Human Coronavirus on the label?

    A.

Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes are EPA registered to kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria that cause cold and flu including the Human Coronavirus. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses ranging from the common cold to much more serious diseases. According to the CDC, COVID-19 is a new coronavirus strain. Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2 on hard, nonporous surfaces and are registered for emerging viral pathogens. Therefore, per the EPA Emerging Pathogen Policy, they can be used against SARS-CoV-2 when used as directed. More information can be found here.

  • Q.
Do all Clorox® products with bleach disinfect?

    A.

Clorox sells several bleach products — some are labeled as disinfectants and others are not. To determine if a product disinfects, check the label. All our disinfecting products — registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — prominently state their ability to kill germs.

  • Q.
What percentage alcohol is in Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes?

    A.

The CDC recommends using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, however the guidance on alcohol percentage is not pertinent to disinfectants, which use different active ingredients. The products listed below have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to COVID-19 (formerly 2019-nCoV) on hard, nonporous surfaces. Therefore, per the EPA Emerging Pathogen Policy, these products can be used against COVID-19 when used as directed. For more information, refer to the CDC website at www.cdc.gov..

  • Q.
How are you supporting communities in need during the outbreak?

    A.

The Clorox Company Foundation is making a wide-ranging series of grants to three organizations fighting coronavirus: Direct Relief, CDC Foundation Emergency Response Fund and the American Red Cross. The donations, totaling $5 Million, will specifically go toward “care for the caregivers” — people who are working with these public health organizations on the front lines to support public health. These donations are part of our longstanding history of providing support to public health organizations.
