Everyone loves a good chocolate treat until some of it gets on your shirt. Chocolate is made with cocoa butter, which just so happens to have a melting point that is right about your body temperature. So what do you do when you have some melted chocolate stains on your clothing or fabric? You clean it with Clorox.

Steps to remove chocolate stains from clothing

  1. Scrape

    Scrape away excess chocolate. Resist licking stain.

  2. Pre-Treat

    Work in a little laundry detergent from the outside of the garment to loosen oils and prevent the stain from setting.

  3. Wash

    Use the hottest setting recommended with regular detergent and ⅓ cup Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach for white bleach-safe items or Clorox 2® for Colors Stain Remover and Laundry Additive for colors or white items with spandex.

  4. Repeat

    Carefully inspect for residual stains before machine drying. Repeat as necessary.
