Periods are bad enough already. Don’t let the stains add to the stress!

It happens every month and we don’t get much of a choice in that. Whether you’re anxious about being caught by surprise, afraid of what can happen if you’re caught unprepared or even just fed up with ruining another pair, you’re not alone.

Here’s some good news: an unexpected blood stain doesn’t automatically mean another pair of ruined panties, even if you have to wait until you get home to wash them! So next time your period decides it doesn’t care about calendars and surprises you, try the following:

1. Rinse the stain with a little cool water—the less stain you have to work on, the better.

2. Apply liquid Clorox 2® For Colors Stain Remover and Laundry Additive to the stain on both sides of the panties (or blue jeans or whatever item has the period stain). You will see Clorox 2® going to work immediately, taking out the stain!

3. Wait 10 minutes—set a timer!—and then rinse the panties in cool water.

4. For fresh stains, pretreat one more time with Clorox 2®, waiting another 10 minutes, and then wash in warm water using detergent and more Clorox 2®.

For older period stains (even as old as a week!), you can still get them out by repeating the pretreatment step a few times before machine washing the panties. And this goes pretty fast because there’s no need to air dry the panties in between each treatment; you can start the next pretreatment on the rinsed panties. If you don’t have a sink in your laundry room, try working in the kitchen (you can pretreat in a plastic dishpan or even on a dishwasher safe dinner plate) where you can use your microwave timer to keep track of the 10 minute pretreatment time and easily rinse the panties. With an older stain, each time you pretreat you will see less and less stain reacting with the Clorox 2®. Older stains also benefit from a quick scrub with a soft nylon brush before rinsing. After a few 10 minute pretreatments and rinses, apply Clorox 2® one more time before machine washing.

When you see it working, when you save a pair of panties (and the $$$ you spent on them!), maybe like me you’ll feel empowered. Ruining your panties when you get your period is NOT a “fact of life.” Thanks to Clorox 2® For Colors Stain Remover and Laundry Additive, it’s one less thing to stress over, and I love that!
