Laminate flooring is cost-effective, easy to install, durable, and easy to clean and maintain as long as you care for it properly. Because laminate flooring is sensitive to excess moisture, it should only be damp cleaned, making Clorox® Scentiva Disinfecting Mopping Cloths the ideal choice for routine or deep cleaning.

Our mopping cloths come preloaded with just the right amount of cleaning solution that won’t overly saturate a floor with too much water. And since the clear drying formula kills 99.9% of germs, you can clean and disinfect in one easy step without leaving film or streaks. Clorox® Scentiva Disinfecting Mopping Cloths are safe to use in a home with dogs, cats and other pets, too.

Steps to clean laminate flooring

  1. 1

    Vacuum or sweep your floor

Remove dirt and debris that can scratch a floor first by sweeping or vacuuming.

  2. 2

Attach the mopping cloth to the sweeper head

Keep the mopping cloth in the tray as you open out the sides of the cloth. Set the sweeper head onto the back of the cloth, then wrap each side around the top of the sweeper head. Firmly push the cloth into the four grippers on the back of the cleaning head.

  3. 3

    Mop your floor

Start in the corner of the room farthest away from the door you will exit. Wipe the floor clean with a sweeping motion. To disinfect, leave the surface visibly wet for 15 seconds to kill germs, including viruses that cause influenza, measles and COVID-19*.

    Tip

Some organisms (like strep and MRSA) require the surface to stay wet for 4 minutes for disinfection. Read and follow the label instructions to ensure proper disinfection or sanitization.

  4. 4

Refit a new mopping cloth on the sweeping tool as needed

Depending on the size of the area you are cleaning, you may need more than one mopping cloth. Discard a dirty mopping cloth and replace it with a clean one when necessary and continue cleaning.

  5. 5

    Allow floor to air dry

Work your way through the room to avoid walking over any previously cleaned area, then let it air dry.

    Tip

Allow the floor to air dry before letting pets or kids back in the area.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use vinegar to clean a laminate floor?

Typical vinegar and water cleaning solutions are mostly water, and can expose laminate flooring to too much moisture. The quat-based cleaning solution on our mopping cloths provides just enough moisture to clean and disinfect a laminate floor safely.

What is quaternary ammonium?

Quaternary Ammonium Compounds, or quats, are the active ingredients in the cleaning solution on our mopping cloths. Quats are cationic surfactants that interrupt the chain of transmission of infection by destroying cells on bacteria and viruses.
