What are the changes in bleach concentration?

The new Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® Technology formula contains 6.0% sodium hypochlorite, compared to 8.25% in the previous formulation. With the addition of CLOROMAX® Technology, the additional concentration of sodium hypochlorite is not necessary to deliver the confidence of a Clorox® Clean that our consumers know and trust.

Yes. Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® Technology is safe when used as directed. This product is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency for numerous health-sensitive uses, such as emergency water disinfection, food contact surface sanitization and swimming pool disinfection.

Is CLOROMAX® technology harmful to my family, pets or the environment? Will it ruin surfaces, equipment or clothes?

When used as directed, Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® should not pose hazards to children, pregnant women, pets or the environment. This product is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency for numerous health-sensitive uses, such as emergency water disinfection, food contact surface sanitization and swimming pool disinfection. The protective CLOROMAX® barrier is invisible and will not harm any materials or fabrics on which bleach is approved for use.

Is it safe to mix Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® with other household cleaning products?

No. We don’t recommend mixing Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® with other household chemicals, since toxic fumes could result.

Is Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® safe for septic systems?

Yes. When used as directed, Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® is safe to use in septic systems. The bleach breaks down rapidly to mostly salt and water.

Are the usage/dilution instructions different? If so, how?

Dilution and usage instructions have changed for some uses, including the following instances:
-Laundry sanitization
-Sanitizing non-food-contact surfaces, garbage cans and diaper pails
-Sanitizing wooden cutting boards
-Sanitizing dishcloths and rags
-Removal of mold and mildew from hard, nonporous surfaces

How long does it take for the CLOROMAX® Technology to create a protective shield? How many times do I have to use it? If I use other cleaners in between bleaching, will they take away the CLOROMAX® shield?

The efficacy of CLOROMAX® Technology will vary based on the surface, soil, environment and time elapsed since application. CLOROMAX® Technology provides maximum benefit when used as directed consistently and repeatedly on a surface. Clorox recommends a minimum of 3–5 consecutive applications to promote the easier cleaning benefit. Do not use other cleaners in between bleach surface treatments, as they may remove the CLOROMAX® protective layer.

Is Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® Technology still safe to use in emergency situations (i.e., natural disasters, disinfecting drinking water, etc.)?

Yes, Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® continues to effectively clean, disinfect, sanitize, whiten and deodorize across a variety of needs. In fact, our bleach now disinfects and sanitizes the same germs as before plus 21 more, for a total of 64 germs*. New Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® delivers the effective cleaning and whitening power that you love and trust, now with the added benefit of surface protection. In fact, Clorox® Regular Bleach2 with CLOROMAX® is now registered to disinfect and sanitize 4 more germs (for a total of 49 individual germs, compared with 45 germs killed with the previous Clorox® Regular Bleach2). The use instructions and dilutions have changed for some individual organism disinfections —
