Clorox MERS Update
June 25, 2014
The MERS-CoV situation in the U.S. represents a very low risk to the general public at this time. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health partners continue to investigate and respond to the changing situation to prevent the spread of MERS-CoV in the U.S.
Currently there is no hard-surface efficacy test available for the MERS virus. Because there is no virus to test, the CDC has issued the following guidance: “Interim Guidance for Preventing MERS-CoV from Spreading in Homes and Communities.” For hard-surface disinfection, the CDC recommends: “…a household disinfectant with a label that says ‘EPA-approved.'"
Please download the Clorox® products list for EPA-registered disinfectants that comply with the interim guidance.
