How Do You Get Permanent Marker Out Of Pink Pants?

Advice from Dr. Laundry
Q.

How do you get permanent marker out of pink pants?

A.

While regular marker stains can be easily removed by pretreating with liquid Clorox2® before washing, permanent marker stains are just that, permanent!  Just in case you end up with a non-permanent marker stain in the future, here’s how you treat it:

  • . Apply liquid Clorox2® directly to the stain and gently rub it in.
  • . Wait 5-10 minutes, then wash in the warmest water recommended on the garment’s care label using detergent and more Clorox2®.
  • . Air dry and check for success—keep the item out of the dryer until the stain is all the way out.
  • . If the stain is super concentrated (a bleeding pen leaves a big stain, more work to remove than if you accidentally mark something) you can repeat the treatment until you are successful.

I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful as far as permanent marker stains go.  Please let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for writing.
