My Alfani shirt has a stain from Gain fabric softener. How do I get it out, I’ve tried everything.
What are the care instructions for the shirt? And what is the fiber content and color? It would also help to understand how the fabric softener stained the shirt in the first place. If you spilled softener on your shirt and didn’t rinse it right away and it was able to dry out on the fabric, then the stain may be permanent. That would be consistent with what happens with liquid laundry detergents and laundry additives, which should never be applied full strength and then allowed to dry out on the fabric. If your softener dispenser malfunctioned and the softener was added at the wrong time, but there was some water exposure like a spray rinse or an extra rinse, then you might be able to get the stain out by presoaking in warm water using a little liquid detergent or even liquid Clorox2®. Be sure to check the care label to see if it allows for using a color safe bleach if you want to try Clorox2®. To presoak with Clorox2®, fill the cap to line 1 and add it to 2 gallons warm water. Let the shirt soak for 30 minutes before washing in the hottest water recommended using detergent and more Clorox2®.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for writing!
