Clorox^® Scented Bleach

• Water

  Water, also sometimes listed on product labels as aqua, is the most widely used of all solvents. It is a colorless, odorless and flavorless liquid and serves as the base of many cleaning products.

• Sodium hypochlorite

  Sodium hypochlorite, the active ingredient in household bleach, helps to whiten, brighten and remove dirt and stains from surfaces and fabrics. EPA-registered, sodium hypochlorite-based bleach is effective in killing 99.9 percent of bacteria, viruses and some types of mold.

• Sodium chloride

  Sodium chloride is also known as table salt and rock salt. It is commonly used in detergents, hand dish soaps, liquid laundry soaps and fabric softeners to thicken and stabilize formulas.

• Coco-Betaine

  Coco-betaine is a surfactant derived from coconut oil. It is high-foaming, and thus used in soaps to stabilize the foam and thicken the liquid. It also has anti-static properties.

• Fragrance

  Fragrances and perfumes are mixtures of fragrant essential oils, aroma compounds, fixatives and solvents. They are used in cleaning products to add a particular scent (lavender, lemon, etc.) to clothes and homes, and to mask unpleasant odors. Clorox provides a separate list of all the fragrance ingredients used in our household and professional cleaning, disinfecting and laundry products.

• Sodium carbonate

  Sodium carbonate, also known as washing soda and soda ash, is an alkalinity builder, which is added to laundry detergents to improve cleaning efficiency. It also helps remove alcohol and grease stains from clothing.

• Sodium hydroxide

  Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda or lye, is used as a pH adjuster in cleaning products. As an alkali, it is useful in cleaning products for removing soils that are fatty, oily or acidic.

• Sodium polyacrylate

  Sodium polyacrylate is used in laundry detergents to prevent soils from depositing on fabrics during the laundry cycle.

• Sodium xylene sulfonate

  Sodium xylene sulfonate is generally used to stabilize other ingredients in a cleaning product to maximize effectiveness of the formula. It is also useful as a co-thickener (in combination with other ingredients) in cleaning products.

  Additional Safety Information

  The following safety considerations are crucial to Clorox® Regular-Bleach:

  • Never store cleaning products around children.
  • Make sure all products are locked in a secure area, even those with child-resistant closures. While this type of closure can reduce the ability of a child to open a product, it does not make the product childproof.
  • Always re-close caps tightly after use, especially products such as Clorox® Regular-Bleach that have child-resistant closures. The cap must be tight in order to be child-resistant.
  • When using products around children, make sure the container is out of their reach. Ensure that the product stays under the adult’s control at all times. Also, do not allow children access to the treated area while it’s drying.
  • Because of the potential sensitivity of children to the strong odors of bleach and other cleaning products, conduct major cleaning (floors, walls, etc.) when children are not present. Then, ventilate the area and allow surfaces to completely dry before allowing access to children. Spot cleaning should be conducted in accordance with label directions.
  • Do not use Clorox® Regular-Bleach full strength for cleaning surfaces.
  • Always dilute strictly in accordance with label directions.
  • Wear gloves when cleaning for prolonged periods.
  • Bleach solutions need to be made fresh daily. Once diluted, bleach breaks down quickly-mainly into salt and water. Many spray bottles contain metal parts in the trigger spray. Bleach will corrode these parts over time. Bleach is an irritant and using bleach in a spray bottle can be very irritating to some especially those individuals with chronic respiratory or heart conditions.

  Only Clorox® Regular-Bleach, of all the bleaches mentioned on this website, is approved for sanitization and disinfection. Use as directed.
