We all have our grooming necessities – shampoo, hair products, face cream, lotion – but if you're not careful, the bathroom can become clutter central. Below are some easy strategies for keeping the bathroom neat and clean.
Be brutal with your toiletries. While you may have had good intentions about that bottle of multivitamins, the dust on the cap says it's just a waste of space. Be ruthless about what you don't use and throw those bottles away. Also, don't open a second bottle of something until you've finished the first.
Make shower space. Don't try to crowd everything on the ledge of the tub or shower stall. Instead, get a caddie to get things under control. Pick a caddie with enough slots and space for all your shower necessities but not so many that it begs for clutter. Beware, however, as these caddies can be a haven for mildew. Keep the wells dry and spray and wipe regularly with Clorox® Clean-Up® Cleaner with Bleach.
Ban medicine cabinet mayhem. Group products according to height rather than category so you don't waste overhead space. Keep things in their original packaging for quick identification. Store loose objects in clear plastic boxes or cups. Cups for the medicine chest should be unbreakable and transparent.
Stow seasonal supplies. The products that you use infrequently or seasonally should be stowed on high shelves in bins with snap-on lids. A linen or hall closet works best for most people. Clear, plastic, stackable and sturdy are the four qualities to look for. What they're good for: first-aid supplies, medicines (prescription or otherwise), sunscreens, multiples of toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, and bars of soap.
